Tom Barnett

Thomas Barnett is a member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and a descendant of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma.  Raised in Holdenville in Hughes County, Barnett grew up the oldest of seven children. He often stayed with his grandmother, Cora Mae Red Lowe, at her home nearby.

As a child, Tom Barnett’s grandmother taught him to sew. As a teen, his father taught him to read blue prints and build houses. As an adult, he taught himself to make Seminole patchwork by marrying those skills to tradition in a unique way. As they say, it’s all in the details.
